The Canucks tried their hand at an alternate ‘third jersey’ for the first time since switching to the orca jerseys in 1997. The jersey wasn’t a favourite of mine, but it was definitely an improvement on the Canucks third jerseys of the 1990s. It was popular among fans, but not as popular as their vintage jersey that dethroned it as the team’s alternate jersey before the 2005-06 season.
The team also made a minor change to their home and away jerseys in 2001. Added to the home and away jersey was a shoulder patch depicting the team’s original ‘stick and rink’ logo. It was the first attempt to bring mention of the original look that the team had in the 1970s.
