As originally feared, Luongos injury on Sunday during the game against Winnipeg, has resulted in him being unable to dress for the upcoming games against Calgary and Philadelphia. With that being said, the Canucks have summoned Joacim Eriksson from Utica, which was announced by the Vancouver Canucks on Twitter.
With Luongo’s injury currently being an unknown in terms of severity and length of time that Luongo will be out, the Canucks will turn to Eddie Lack to hold down the fort with Luongo is on the shelf. Lack has been nothing but superb this year and deserves a chance to start some consecutive games.
Eriksson had a tough start in Utica this year, as he adjusted to the North American game, but he has been fantastic recently by posting a 4-0 record over his last 4 starts and putting up a 1.48 GAA and .953 S% during those games.
The Canucks are currently 9-1-1 in their last 11 games, and return to action on Sunday against the Calgary Flames.
