As first reported by Dan Murphy, it looks like David Booth will be scratched for tonight’s game against NYI:
Sure seems like #canucks David Booth will be a healthy scratch vs #islanders. If so, quite a message w/only 12 healthy forwards on trip.
As Dan states – this is quite the message to send to David Booth; with only 12 healthy forwards currently with the team. Booth is coming off a 1 Hit, 0 SOG performance against the Blue Jackets. With this surprising scratch, Alberts is expected to draw into the lineup on the 4th line with Sestito and Welsh; with Weise being the likely candidate to see a ice-time bump on the third line.
I don’t think Booth is going to benefit from watching the game from a different viewpoint, but this move is likely being made to light a fire under Booth to get him going. Booth has been either below average or invisible in the games that he has been in, which is something that cannot happen to a player making $4.25 million in a salary cap system.
